Libby resident honored by governor
<p>At a recent conference of the Society of American Foresters (SAF), Governor Steve Bullock conveyed the Montana Citizen of the Year Award to Libby resident, Bob Castaneda.</p>
Libby resident Bob Castaneda was recently honored by Montana Gov. Steve Bullock as Montana Citizen of the Year at a conference of the Society of American Foresters.
Castaneda is a 17-year member of the society, who retired from the United States Forest Service. He was most recently the Kootenai National Forest Supervisor.
Castaneda, in addition to serving as the society’s chapter chair, also serves on the board of the Cabinet View Golf Club, the board of directors of Cabinet Peaks Medical Center and volunteers for the Heritage Museum. He also volunteers with the Libby Tree Board and with the STOKR bike ride.
“Bob is an individual that is dedicated to public service,” said fellow forester Russ Gautreaux. “After a long career with the Forest Service, Bob has continued to invest considerable time in helping professional and community-based organizations. Bob Castaneda is a great asset to the Libby area and his actions serve the community well and are a positive reflection of the values promoted by the Society of American Foresters.”
