Lady Trojans lose doubleheader at home

The Lady Trojans hosted Loyola Sacred Heart for a double header Saturday afternoon. After falling hard in the first game, 16-1, the girls battled back to six tied innings before losing 8-9 in the bottom of the seventh.

“We committed too many errors and couldn’t get the bats going enough in the first game,” said Troy coach Keith Haggerty.

In the second game, the girls jumped out with four runs in the first inning, a lead the Breakers chipped away after the second inning. The teams headed into the third tied at four, but the Lady Trojans responded, pushing two more runners across the plate. Loyola answered with one in the bottom of the fourth, and then added three more in the bottom of the fifth to take a two-run lead. 

Troy’s girls fought back in the sixth, scoring two runs to tie the score. The Breakers broke the tie in the bottom of the seventh and claimed victory, 9-8.
