69, of Ellensburg, Wash.

 

Rita Mae Waldo Coon Startin, born January 7, 1947, to Ray and Jessie Waldo in Sidney, passed away on May 2, 2016, with her family by her side. 

Growing up, she moved with her family throughout the western United States until they settled in Libby. Rita graduated from Libby High School where she was active in band, choir and shooting club.

She married Larry Robert Coon in Sandpoint, Idaho, on May 3, 1965. Following Larry’s death in 1981, she married Randy Startin on June 11, 1982, in Seattle Wash.

Her family was the most important aspect of her life. She loved children and was a foster parent to many over the span of 10 years. In the last 20 years, she worked for American Greetings while also helping to care for many of her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, DeVere, and her husband, Larry.

Rita is survived by her brothers, Dwayne (Mary) and Robert; Vera (Don); her sons Robert Larry (Resa), David Lee (Jennifer), Alan Gene (Becky), Thomas Benjamin (Alisha), and Richard Roy (Tanya), of Washington; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. 

A funeral will be held Friday, May 6, at 1 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 808 S. Magnolia St. Ellensburg, Wash. Please visit www.steward-williams.com to send condolences.
