Voter registration check-up May 5

Representatives from the Montana State Capitol will be at Libby Clinic, 211 E. 2nd Street, on Thursday, May 5, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. to help Montanans with disabilities check their voter status and/or register to vote under the Help America Vote Act. Libby Clinic invites all citizens of our community to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure people registered to vote. No parties or candidates will be promoted or endorsed.

 

Rep. Zinke mobile office hours today

A member of Rep. Ryan Zinke’s congressional staff will be holding mobile office hours at the Lincoln County Courthouse Tuesday, May 3, from 9 a.m. until noon. He is available to help area residents with any questions or concerns they would like to express.

 

Gas prices rise in Montana

Average retail gasoline prices in Montana have risen 4.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.09 per gallon yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 615 gas outlets in Montana. This compares with the national average that has increased 8.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.22 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com. 

Including the change in gas prices in Montana during the past week, prices yesterday were 25.6 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 10.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 15.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 39.3 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.

 

Flathead Electric Co-Op elects board members

The Board of Trustees for Flathead Electric Co-op, meeting in regular session on April 27, elected officers for the coming term (year). Doug Grob, who represents District 4, was elected to serve as President. Duane Braaten, who represents District 6, was elected Vice President and Earl Messick of District 9 was elected Secretary/Treasurer.

The member/owners of Flathead Electric run the Cooperative through their elected representatives on the Board of Trustees. Flathead Electric includes nine districts, each with a representative on the Board, which acts as the governing body. State and federal law, as well as the articles of incorporation and the bylaws of the Cooperative, govern the actions of the board.

 

Wings in the Yaak May 14

The Yaak Tavern is hosting the annual Wings in the Yaak event, where the town of a couple hundred residents raise thousands of dollars each year for Lincoln County cancer patients and their families. Last year, the Yaak Wings event raised $42,500 through a raffle, silent auction and pledges toward the Wings walk. The event will be held Saturday, May 14, with food service beginning at 4 p.m. and ending with the live auction at 7 p.m.
