Ben Graham Memorial set for May 20 - 22
The annual Ben Graham Memorial Golf Tournament is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday May 20 to May 22, at Cabinet View Golf Course. The tournament opens with an optional practice round on Friday, followed by a derby beginning at 5:30 p.m. This year we will have $200 added to the payout in the derby.
Saturday’s rounds will start at 8 a.m. You can call the club house and make your group or ask to be put into a group. Sunday we will be going back to a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
Dinner will be provided Saturday afternoon at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday’s first hole-in-one on hole number 7 wins $25,000.
Entry fees this year will be $70 for members, $90 for non-members, $130 for professionals and $25 for juniors. There has also been $1,000 added to amateur prizes. We will also be having $100 amateur KP’s Saturday on the par 3’s. Hole-in-one prize of $1,000 on each par 3 for the first pro or amateur hole-in-on Sunday. Other games are $1,000 chipping and $1,000 putting contests. Long drive this year will have $100 added to the prize money. Deuce pot and skins games will also be available.
We encourage any new participants and look forward to seeing those who have played in the past. Again we will have a special competition for past Logger golfers.
Ben Graham was a standout golfer for Libby High School before graduation in 1973. He is included in the Libby High School Hall of Fame. In college Graham was an NCAA All-American at Cal State-Northridge before turning pro in 1978. He was a teacher at a golf school in Stratton, Vermont when his life ended at 30. Graham died in 1985 in an early morning car accident near Happy’s Inn while on an ice fishing trip to McGregor Lake.
The Ben Graham Tournament honors Ben’s life and commitment to golf, especially kids playing golf. Proceeds from the tournament go to the support of youth golf in Libby. The tournament thanks all those donating businesses and individuals that make this a special event.
