Time to disband the 'irritating' City Council

Letter to the Editor:

The March 11 edition of The Western News carried an article about the City Attorney’s appointment or lack thereof. Council President Teske is quoted: “It’s just another one of those things Doug Roll has decided to take upon himself.”  Councilwoman Raines wasn’t sure why the appointment and contract wasn’t on the agenda and Councilman Zimmerman actually thought he was working closely with the Mayor only to discover Mayor Obama/Roll was letting the puppy worry a bone.

Mayor Obama/Roll never met a law or legal process that wasn’t worth spitting on. After all; the part of MCA CODE: 7-4-4602 that states, ”The City Attorney must be subject to approval by the City Council,” is only a suggestion, right?

Mr. (loophole) Tennant is quoted as saying, ”There is no time limitation in the statute for the council’s approval. One could argue the appointment is valid until the council disapproves the appointment.” Yes, one could argue that and I would be forced to agree. So theoretically Mr. Tennant could hold office for the next two years wthout actually being approved by City Council. All Mayor Obama/Roll has to do is keep the issue off the agenda.

Since Mayor Obama/Roll regularly takes things onto himself, ignoring the law, why don’t we just throw that pesky Constitution in the garbage can. We could save the city $26,280 by eliminating the City Council all together. They only irritate Mayor Obama/Roll anyway.

So it could be said the City Council is irrelevant; would the last one out please turn off the lights? Thank you.
