Attack on Sen. Fielder is bull

Letter to the Editor:

The recent attack on Sen. Jennifer Fielder by some backcountry horsemen is total bull.

She is smart enough to know that the way the forests around us are managed is very bad. The old Forest Service back in the days of J. Neils managed the forests for the good of the people, not just for the narrow views and the agendas of environmentalists.

By the way, the backcountry horsemen do a lot of damage to the trails in the back country. Their shod hooves dig up the trails and cause a lot of erosion. I have hiked from one end of the Cabinets to the other at least five times, so I have seen it for myself. Why don’t the horsemen walk into the back country like other people have to do?

Also, the state should take over management of our national forests, maybe we could cut a few trees before they all burn up this summer.
