70, of Libby

Henry A. “Hank” Cook, 70, died on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at his home in Libby of natural causes. He was born on Sept. 22, 1945, at Corvallis, Ore., to Benjamin R. and Dorothy E. (Watkins) Cook. 

He grew up in Silverton, Ore., and attended school there until entering the U.S. Army in October of 1965. He was awarded sharpshooter medals for rifle and for carbines and a National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in October of 1967.

Hank worked in the saw mills for a number of years and then went to work as a boiler maker. He had worked on the Alaska Pipeline and a nuclear plant in Hawaii. He moved to Libby in 1992. 

He married JoAnn Mersberg in 1996 in Reno, Nev. 

Hank enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved watching football, especially his favorite team, the New England Patriots. He loved his dogs.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn Cook, Libby; four sons; a brother Ben Cook (Mary), Eureka; a sister Deanna Kaskela, Salem, Ore.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law Helen Putnam, Portland, Ore.
