Troy Police Department adding four new reserve officers
The Troy City Council on Wednesday met to discuss with the Chief of Police about the new recruits, and to vote on the Adopt Growth Policy, the Water Utility Distribution lines budget, the annexation of the Flat Iron subdivision, and business licenses.
According to Chief of Police Allen Dye after the four new police reserve recruits complete their training, Troy will be able to have two police officers on patrol at any given time. Chief Allen Dye expressed admiration for the trainees for making the commitment and paying their own way. Most of the new recruits are locals to the area.
Council member Kimberly Rowse said she had recently noticed a large volume of speeding tickets through U.S. 2, concerned about the negative effect that may have on tourism. Dye stressed the importance of being polite as well as firm with people caught speeding.
The council unanimously approved the adoption of the five-year Growth Policy, along with an amendment to the budget to increase funding to $97,000 for the water-utility distribution lines.
The council members also unanimously approved the annexation of the Flat Iron subdivision, which was tabled at last month’s City Council Meeting.
Lion’s Engineering and Construction, Black Bear Entertainment Company and Troy Farmers Market were each approved for business licenses.
