Loggers drop pair to Bitterroot

The Libby Loggers dropped another pair Friday night in a conference double-header against the Bitterroot Bucs.

The Bucs won the first game 15-6 on Jake Finley’s four runs and five RBIs batting 2-for-4. Bo Zeiler went 3-for-4 at the plate, adding three more runs for the Bucs.

Brady Bateman led the Loggers on 3-for-4 batting with two RBIs and 2 runs. Dylan Lane followed up with 2-for-4 batting and run for Libby.

The Bucs took off early Friday at Lee Gehring Stadium, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. But the Loggers, on the home diamond for the first time in three weeks, snapped right back with three runs of their own.

Libby catcher Brady Bateman led the night off for the Loggers with a deep-right double, scoring Collin Johnson. Dylan Lane and Shayne Walker each followed up with an RBI-single, tying the game up after the first as the Loggers looked like they had the steam to end their seven-game losing streak.

Libby scored one more run in the second on another RBI from Bateman, this time a double to left field. But the Bucs went on a 12-2 run into the seventh inning, getting on base by single after single from the Bitterroot lineup and capitalizing on six Logger errors.

The first contest ended 15-6.
