Within the past year, the county’s youth researched, glued, sewed, painted, practiced performances and nursed their animals to show off their talents and accomplishments last weekend at the Lincoln County Junior Fair.

On July 14, 15 and 16, the 59th Lincoln County Junior Fair commenced with exhibits, livestock and a parade. Volunteers worked for two days to set up, then on Thursday, registration for the exhibits were held, with the deadline being 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

The approximately 60 contestants, all under the age of 18, each went home with awards.

At Asa Wood Gym from Friday to Saturday, exhibits on display filled the gym. The exhibits ranged from a model watchtower to a splatter painting to a display on flowers. The awards were based on a point system, judged on criteria such as neatness, artistic talent, theme, appearance, originality, color configuration, suitability and craftsmanship.

At the performing arts show, contestants sang, danced and showed off their talents. At the livestock activities, livestock were judged based on their cleanliness, coat and health.
