Letter to the Editor:

Good story on the port authority in your Jan. 15, 2016, edition, at least one person on the board wants to do the right thing and pay back a county loan.

Which brings me to my  question. When are the Port and Kootenai River Development Corporation going to deal with all  the questions about their past? Lots of economic development money has flowed into both these groups and sadly very little economic development has ever come out of it, with the exception of a very select few .

I attended the council meeting where Tina Oliphant  showed a slide show of the port’s needs. Sorry, but what she showed us was basic infrastructure needs (paved roads, water, rail track replacement, etc...) this stuff should have been done at the beginning or at least sometime during the past 12 years.

When asked about the past Ms. Oliphant said she didn’t want to talk about it. I bet.

Commissioners and boards, you need to talk to the community about both of these groups’ pasts before they can ever have a future. You need to show the community that what has gone on there in the past won’t happen again.
