Donald Knoblach

83, of Libby

 

Donald G. Knoblach, 83, died on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at his home in Libby. He was born Oct. 8, 1932, in Hell’s Kitchen, N.Y., to John and Elise Knoblach. He grew up in Astoria, N.Y., and attended school at St. Alban’s in Long Island. He graduated from St. Alban’s High School in 1950.  

Don enlisted in the U.S. Marines in August of 1950 and served four years, and was honorably discharged in 1954. He worked odd jobs for a number of years. He married Joan Rendos on March 26, 1956.

Don went to work at Smithtown General Hospital in Smithtown, N.Y., as a maintenance engineer for 18 years. He moved his family to Libby in 1979. He went to work for St. John’s Lutheran Hospital right away and worked there for 12 years. He retired in 1981.  Don loved to hunt and used ham radios. He loved Montana. 

He was preceded in death by a brother John.

Survivors include his wife Joan Knoblach, Libby; children Donald Knoblach (Tammy), Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Karen Ann Kinzey, Spokane, Wash.; John Breitenbruck, New Jersey; Scott Breitenbruck, Florida; Corey Breitenbruck, Florida; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
