The Troy Trojans took control of the opening tip-off Friday night against Eureka and never looked back. The boys ran away with the game, handing the Lions a 55-36 defeat.

The first quarter was competitive, with the Lions and Trojans battling back and forth. As the period ended, the Trojans had secured a slim 11-9 edge.

The second quarter was all Troy, as the boys poured in 14 points and held the Lions to just five. The Trojans took a 25-14 lead into the locker room at the half.

The Lions’ offense looked better in the third quarter, as they fought for nine points, but they couldn’t stop Troy’s offensive machine. The Trojans poured in another 13 points, then added 17 in the final period to secure the win.

Head coach Jerry Mee was pleased with his team’s performance.

“I would like to add that Sean (Opland) had 11 rebounds,” he said. “Kolton Winebark and Dillon Savage each had seven rebounds and Dillon had four assists. We shot the ball better and were able to get out on the break. The guys played good defense, which led to some run-outs. Eureka plays hard and it was not an easy win.”
