After a crushing defeat Friday, the Trojans of Troy fought back against Ronan, but in the end fell short in the overtime period, losing 60-57.

Troy standout Sean Opland racked up his second double-double in two nights, pouring in 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Kolton Winebark and Adam Tallmadge both just missed the double-double mark. Winebark had 11 points and nine rebounds, while Tallmadge had nine points and 11 rebounds. Dillon Savage added another nine points for the Trojans.

The Trojans trailed late in the game, but a strong rally in the fourth quarter pulled it even and sent the game to overtime. Unfortunately for the Trojans, however, they lost Opland to fouls in that crucial fourth quarter and went into the overtime period short-handed.

“Sean had a nice game, scoring a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds,” head coach Jerry Mee said. “Kolton Winebark scored nine of his 11 points in the fourth quarter and he had nine rebounds. Adam Tallmadge and Dillon Savage each scored nine points and Adam also had 11 rebounds. Tucker Winn had a nice game, scoring five points and hauling down eight rebounds. We had a great fourth quarter, scoring 22 points to send the game into overtime. We were hamstrung in OT due to Sean fouling out at the end of the fourth quarter. We played hard, we played well in stretches but came up a little short.”

The Trojans next face the Lions of Lincoln County High Friday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Troy.
