The Lady Loggers fought back from a six-point deficit against the Breakers of Loyola Saturday night, but just couldn’t hold on. The girls fell 53-52.

The Breakers jumped out to a four-point lead after the first quarter, which they extended to five at the half.

In the third quarter, the teams fought back-and-forth, ending the period with 14 each. The Lady Loggers fought a tough fourth quarter, at one point taking the lead before falling one point shy as the buzzer brought the game to a close.

“After being down for a majority of the game, we rallied and finally took the lead late in the fourth quarter,” head coach Jim May said. “Missed free throws, missed opportunities after good play sets and some untimely turnovers at the end put us in the position of having to keep a very good player from beating us at the end. We are a very good free throw shooting team, but we struggled from the line Saturday night. I was proud of the way the girls hung in there and finally got the lead. We will get better at finishing plays and games.”
