Kathryn Cockerham, MD, an emergency physician at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, recently earned her board certification in emergency medicine.

The American Board of Emergency Medicine is the governing board of all emergency medicine physicians, and is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. The board certification process involves both written and oral examinations. Cockerham successfully passed both sections to earn her certification.

“Becoming board certified in any specialty is a huge undertaking and a true test of a physician’s medical knowledge and competency,” Bruce Whitfield, Cabinet Peaks Medical Center chief executive officer, said in a Dec. 28, 2015, press releease.  “Cabinet Peaks is proud to employ physicians who strive to be the best they can be for our hospital and our communities, and board certification is one of the ways we can make that distinction.  We are ecstatic that Dr. Cockerham has completed this long and grueling process.”

Cockerham, a seven-year veteran of medical practice, has been with Cabinet Peaks for just more than one year.
