The Trojans traveled to Ronan Saturday and suffered their second defeat of the weekend, losing to the Chiefs 60-42.
Ronan pulled away in the second quarter of play, creating a hole from which the Trojans just couldn’t escape. Late runs in the second half brought the Trojans to within striking distance, but they just couldn’t get over the top.
Mason Chapel led Troy with 16 points and Sean Opland, who missed Friday’s game due to illness, added another 13.
“Ronan outscored us by 10 in the second quarter and we were just not able to make up the deficit,” said head coach Jerry Mee. “We were able to get close in the second half but Ronan was able to hold us off. This week we hit a bump in the road and we will need to go over it. We need to learn from the week and put it behind us. We have a big week coming up, the last of the regular season. We need to improve this week and get ready for the tournament next week.”
