The Lady Trojans traveled to Kalispell Tuesday night to battle the Lady Cougars of Stillwater Christian Academy. The Troy girls came away with a 10-point victory, 49-39.

Troy head coach Justin Young was pleased with the effort, although he said his team didn’t play their best basketball.

“We did a great job of coming out of the gate on Stillwater,” he said. “It was probably one of our better starts all year. During the 4th quarter we set back on our heels a bit  and let them come within 4 points. I was proud of the way the girls handled the situation though. They didn’t panic, and they were able to knock down their free throws and hit some clutch baskets down the stretch. I was proud of the way Alyssa, Aurora, and Sami played. They had a size advantage and they used it. Which was good seeing how Stillwater crashed the boards harder than any team we have faced all year. Though we didn’t play our best basketball, any time you get a win on the road you have to be happy.”

Troy had three scorers in double figures. Alyssa Lewis took the lead with 15, Allie Coldwell added another 14 and Aurora Becquart chipped in 10. The Lady Trojans are now 9-5 for the season. They next face the Valkyries of Bigfork at home tonight and travel to Ronan tomorrow to face the Maidens.
