Libby Dam update
Due to a shift in priority of power needs, Libby Dam will reduce outflow and target the flood risk management elevation target of 2,411 feet, set by the December Water Supply Forecast of 8.9 MAF. In early January, flows will increase back to powerhouse capacity of approximately 26 kcfs. The daily flow changes are described below:
On Dec. 28, outflows were reduced from 26.1 kcfs to 21.1 kcfs over two hours starting at 8 p.m.
On Dec. 29, outflows were reduced from 21.1 kcfs to 16.1 kcfs over two hours starting at 0100 MST.
Flows will remain at 16.1 kcfs from Dec. 30 to Jan. 1.
On Jan. 2, flows will increase from 16.1 kcfs to 26 kcfs over two hours starting at 1 a.m.
Flows will remain ~25-26 kcfs (powerhouse capacity) from Jan. 2-5.
Current Koocanusa Reservoir elevation: 2412.7 feet
Current Koocanusa Reservoir inflow: ~5 kcfs
Current Libby Dam outflow: 26.1 kcfs
Current Kootenai River elevation at Bonners Ferry: 1754.6 feet
