Wresting team takes home big win at tourney
Libby’s wrestling season is looking up this year, as they take home a big win from a tournament this weekend.
The Libby Greenchain flexed its muscle at the Bob Kinney Classic wrestling tournament on Saturday scoring 159.5 points to win the team title over the 13 teams present.
“The boys wrestled great,” head wrestling coach Kelly Morford said. “We played the most dominating performances we’ve had since I’ve been around.”
Buddy Doolin at 103 and Reed Christensen at 132 were the winning champions for Libby.
“Reed Christensen had a great tournament,” Morford said. “He’s put in a lot of effort throughout his high school career and it’s really fun to watch that pay off.”
Dillon Yeadon came in second in 113. Laine Young came in second in 138. In 152, Tim Carvey came in third. Tanner Wood also came in second in 160. Dylan Parrish, 170, came in third. Clancy Gout came in second in 205, and Cyrus Sweedman came in fourth in 205
“We started out like a ball of fire, it wasn’t until the end of the second round that we lost a match,” Morford said. “Considering an early morning bus ride, I was surprised how we played.”
At 5 p.m. on Dec. 13, the team will duel Thompson Falls and Eureka at home with exhibition matches with Bigfork mixed in between the duels.
