Loggers take down Huskies in overtime

On Saturday, Libby gained their first win of the season over Belt in overtime.

Against the Belt Huskies, with a close game all the way through, the teams went from a 10-point first quarter deficit to overtime in the last minutes.

In the first quarter, the Loggers fell behind five-15, but took the lead in the second quarter, scoring 11 points to Belt’s additional eight, bringing the game to 16-23. The teams tied in the third quarter, 12-12 for 28-35, but the Loggers finally caught up to Belt in the fourth quarter, bringing the game with 43 to 43.

The Loggers sealed the game with 11 points in overtime, bringing the game 54-50.

Erik Lauer led the team with 20 points, followed by Ryggs Johnston with 15, Stephen Williams with seven, Colin Maloney with five, Ryan Nagle with four and Gabe Peck with three.

The team had 32 rebounds, seven offensive and 25 defensive, 10 assists, two steals, five blocks, 21 turnovers, three bench points, seven second chance points and 12 points off turnovers

The Loggers will take on Thompson Falls on Friday at 7 p.m.
