David Thompson Search and Rescue is still looking for an Idaho man who fell into the Kootenai River near the Kootenai Falls, according to Lincoln County Undersheriff Brandon Huff.

According to a press release issued by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Trevor Applegate, a 6’2, 41-one-year-old Bonners Ferry man, reportedly went missing at 5:20 p.m. on Dec. 6 after a witness reported seeing him being swept downstream.

Troy Volunteer Ambulance, Troy Volunteer Fire, Troy City Police, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the David Thompson Search and Rescue all responded to the location.

DTSAR continued the search into the night of Dec. 6 using both ground and boat crews, and resumed the search in the morning of Dec. 7, deploying more than 20 members on the ground, a jet boat and several camera equipped drones.

The DTSAR team deployed 20 members on the ground Wednesday morning, with a jet boat and camera equipped drones.

Applegate has not been located as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, as crews worked against high river flows, cold temperatures and icy conditions that hampered the search.

The search and rescue team will reconvene the search on Thursday morning with a canine unit and a jet boat.
