Meet the candidates

The Western News and The Venture Inn will be sponsoring a candidate forum beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, in the Fjord Room of The Venture Inn. The forum will feature candidates for Clerk of the District Court and for the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners. The forum is intended to provide Lincoln County voters with the opportunity to hear from the candidates for these two offices before the June 3, 2016, primary election. Questions from the audience can be submitted in advance by email to bhenline@thewesternnews.com or during the event in writing to the forum moderator.

 

Self-help law program rep in Libby

The representative from the Self Help Law Program will be at the Lincoln County Courthouse, second floor, in the law library on Thursday, May 12, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide free forms and information on legal resources to self-represented litigants in the areas of divorce, name change, stepparent adoption, custody, child support, debt collection, eviction and more. Walk-ins are accepted but appointments are encouraged.

Spring Into Summer with MWA

Montana Wilderness Association will be holding their Spring Into Summer event from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Cabinet Mountain Brewery in Libby. The event will cover the association’s 2016 wilderness walks and volunteer projects scheduled for the year. Participants will have the opportunity to win door prizes, a flight over the Bob Marshall Wilderness, a basket of goodies and other prizes.

Museum potluck

 The Heritage Musuem is holding a fundraiser potluck and open house, beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 5.

Participants are invited to either bring a potluck dish to share or to pay $5 for dinner, or if they choose not to eat are free to participate in the museum tour at no charge.

The tour will include select exhibits, beginning with the Shay locomotive restoration project. A raffle will also be held, with tickets available for $1 each or six for $5.
