On behalf of Libby Middle-High School, we welcome any and all of you to come in and talk to us about the upcoming Maintenance Levy. We thank those people who attended our community open house. We would like to address one of the concerns that was brought up about ongoing maintenance and share some of the renovation and maintenance projects that the district has done and not made the community aware:

• replace single pane windows with dual pane

• replace entrance and exit doors 5 sets completed

• add new boilers with digital controls

• remodeled library, Log Jam and front entrance

• replaced flagpole

• structural beam repair and replacement

• sewer pump repairs and replacement

• parking lot resurfacing with drainage maintenance

• computer labs renovated as technology needs change

• roof leak repairs annually

• drywall and ceiling tile replacement due to leaks annually

• track resurfaced

• bleacher maintenance

• gym floor resurfacing and painting

• replace crumpled concrete walkways sections

The proposed projects included in the Maintenance Levy are not part of regular facility maintenance. These funds would cover larger projects required due to age of the school (53 years old). Four million dollars over a five-year period is a large expenditure for our community, but our schools house our best investment for the future of Libby. In order to have our students in safe and healthy environments they can be proud of, we must make the financial sacrifice now and support the building maintenance levy.

VanWorth-Rogers is the principal of Libby Middle High School.
