It's time to recall Roll
Letter to the Editor:
Kudos to The Western News editor Bob Henline for the recent editorial regarding the removal of Doug Roll as mayor.
Anyone with any knowledge of journalism knows that an editorial opinion is risk because there will always be those who disagree and want to cancel subscriptions, advertising, etc... So, thanks Bob.
A newspaper’s responsibility is to report news in an unbiased and factual manner, with documentation to back up that information. That is exactly what Editor Henline did. In a responsible fashion, and with proven facts he clearly laid out what Doug Roll has done to underminethe progress of a working city council and blacken the reputation of Libby. Roll has humiliated the good people of Libby with his behavior and rhetoric.
For those of you who disagree, may I ask how it is you can defend someone who behaves with belligerence, rudeness, arrogance, disrespect and untruthfulness?
Doesn’t it mean something that four members of the city council have suggested that Roll is no longer competent or respected enough to serve as the leader of our beautiful town? Those people are part of the inner circle and know more than any of us about the internal affairs of the city.
The same people have been voted by the people to serve – yet they cannot do so because of the roadblocks imposed by Roll. We surely don’t want to lose them, too.
So, enough is enough. Reason, pleading and threatening won’t change the situation or the behavior of Roll – but a recall would. Let’s get with it.
Anita Shock,
Libby
