Logger boys complete rough road trip

The Loggers tennis team traveled to Corvallis and Stevensville Saturday to play matches against Corvallis, Valley Christian and Stevensville. The Loggers lost the first two matches of the road trip, but bounced back to defeat Stevensville before returning home.

The boys’ first loss of the season came at the hands of Corvallis, 2-5. All four singles players lost their matches. Jason Brant fell to Caleb Powell, 1-6, 0-6. Jhamaal Sykes dropped to Gabe DeLeo, 6-3, 2-6, 5-7. Virgil Sadewasser lost to Brennon Williams, 0-6, 1-6 and Raymond Sadewasser was defeated by Rutger Klein, 2-6, 3-6.

In No. 3 doubles, Dameon Kelch and Rayson Arnold were beaten in a close match by George Curtis and Thamas Budzinksy, 5-7, 5-7. Erik Lauer and Braydan Thom beat Easton Powell and Dylan Josey, 6-4, 7-6 and Gio Cano and Ryan Nagle knocked off Cayden Ayers and Andrew Simkins, 6-1, 7-5.

The boys fought a tougher team effort against Valley Christian, but ultimately fell, 3-4.

Jason Brant and Dameon Kelch lost in singles play to Trey Christians and Casey Reimer 1-6, 5-7 and 1-6, 0-6, respectively. Niklaus Gier fell to Laddie Hawkins, 4-6, 4-6. Jhamaal Sykes won in No. 2 singles against Christopher Beckett, 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles action, Erik Lauer and Braydan Thom beat Phillip Manuel and Andrew Hawkins, 6-2, 6-2 and Ryan Nagle and Gio Cano defeated Aidan McClay and Isaiah Kim, 6-2, 6-3. Raymond Sadewasser and Virgil Sadewasser lost to Zach Baugher and Caleb Colwell, 3-6, 4-6.

After a short break while traveling from Corvallis to Stevensville, the Loggers bounced back and knocked off the Yellowjackets 4-2.

The singles players split 2-2 with the homecourt Yellowjackets. Jason Brant lost to Colton Belcourt, 1-6, 4-6 and Niklaus Gier fell to Juan Toro, 5-7, 1-6. Jhamaal Sykes knocked off Jacob Emery, 6-2, 6-2 and Rayson Arnold defeated Noah Breneman, 6-4, 6-2.

In doubles play Erik Lauer and Braydan Thom thrashed Noah Breneman and Aksel Sorenson, 6-1, 6-0 and Gio Cano and Ryan Nagle blanked Ben Hale and Sam Hale, 6-0, 6-0.
