Our kids deserve a quality education and environment
Letter to the Editor:
I have always been proud to say that I am a Libby Logger. Born and raised in Libby, I feel that I have had the privilege to live in one of the greatest places on Earth. Furthermore, I feel even more fortunate to have been able to return to Libby to raise my children around friends and family and to work for Libby Public Schools.
The student body that makes up the K-12 classes are bright, enthusiastic and gifted young men and women who have the luxury of being educated by a group of dedicated, hard working professionals who care deeply about their students and their academic success.
Libby School District is asking the community to support a maintenance levy, on May 3, which will be used solely to preserve the structural integrity of our current school buildings and provide much needed updates at the elementary and middle/high school buildings to ensure a safer and healthier learning environment for our students.
There comes a time with all buildings that updates and improvements are needed, not out of neglect, but rather out of necessity, as well as to instill a sense of pride in these school buildings that are supported and used by the community. I urge all Libby residents to support the upcoming maintenance levy. Libby is a great community that should pride itself in not just the quality of education that is received by our children but also the environment in which they are educated.
