After a closely fought 1-0 loss to Anaconda in their season opener at home, the Lady Loggers slugged their way to two impressive victories on the road Saturday. The girls rolled Deer Lodge 8-4 and the Mission-Arlee-Charlo co-op team 13-3 in St. Ignatius.

Khalyn Hageness pitched in Libby’s opener, recording seven strikeouts and allowing only seven hits in the complete game effort. The Lady Loggers’ bats were cold Friday, though, and with only two base hits in the game the girls couldn’t force the runs to overcome Anaconda’s lone score.

Despite the season’s cold start, though, the Lady Loggers’ bats woke up for Saturday’s two-game stand in St. Ignatius.

Against Deer Lodge the girls came out swinging, scoring in each of the first six innings and recording 11 hits. The Lady Wardens closed the gap with a three-run third inning, but Libby responded with two in the fourth and cruised on to an 8-4 victory.

Against the cooperative team of Mission-Arlee-Charlo, the Lady Loggers put on a batting clinic, scoring 13 runs on 10 hits. Mission never got closer than four runs in the lopsided Lady Logger victory.
