Hazel Dare

| September 29, 2015 3:29 PM

Hazel Leone (Benz) Dare, 91, passed from this life to be with Jesus on Sept. 25, 2015, at her home in Troy. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and friend.

Hazel was born in Lincoln County, Minn. on Sept. 2, 1924. She was raised on a farm by her parents Arthur and Emma Benz during the great depression and knew how to stretch a penny.

She married Clifford Dare May 2, 1953, in Norfolk, Va. She then spent the next 62 years raising three children and creating a loving home. Summers would find Hazel in her large garden for long hours lovingly tending her flowers and vegetables. Then came hours of kitchen time spent canning her harvest. Sewing and mending kept her occupied during the long winter days. She also enjoyed sharing her wealth of experience and knowledge with others. Hazel’s love for the Lord was evident to all who knew her by her concern for others, sweet calm spirt and her quiet strength. She will be greatly missed.

Hazel was preceded in death by her loving husband Clifford Dare; son Mitch; her father and mother and her four siblings, Velera, Lloyd, Margery and Forrest.

Survivors include her daughter Deborah Dare and Son Casey (Diane) Dare of Troy; grandson Travis Dare; granddaughter Misty Oberdorf; grandson Chaz (Breana) Burton; great-grandchildren Savannah, Kiera, Brogan and Deegen along with numerous nephews and nieces who loved her.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday Oct. 2, at Three Lakes Community Bible Church in Troy. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
