Christ Lutheran Church celebrates 100 years with service
Letter to the Editor:
Christ Lutheran Church concluded its 100-year anniversary celebration at the Sunday, Sept. 20 worship service. At the beginning of the celebration, in September 2014, Bishop Jessica Crist challenged the congregation to do 100 things in honor of the 100th anniversary.
The congregation has been busy during the past 12 months meeting that challenge. One hundred boxes of stuffing mix were given to the Libby Food Pantry, 100 Good Gifts were given through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the kids in the congregation bagged more than 100 bags of soup mix for the food pantry.
One hundred valentines were sent to home bound and out-of-town members and friends of the congregation, 100 adult health kits were completed for Lutheran World Relief. More than 100 bunches of daffodils were given out to be taken to people in the community who could use some cheer, the kids in the congregation colored and distributed more than 100 Jesus figures for folks to take with them as they traveled and recreated during the summer, showing that Jesus is with us wherever we are, and school supplies for more than 100 Lutheran World Relief kits were allocated.
The quilters completed more than 100 quilts to send to Lutheran World Relief, a hundred financial tips were distributed, 100 tips for reducing our carbon footprint were distributed and a list of well over 100 ways members of the congregation are giving back to the community outside of church activities was compiled.
