Lois G. Scow, of Libby, died June 18, 2015, at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center following a short illness. Lois was born Nov, 4, 1922, in Mt. Vernon, Wash., to Gleason A. and L. Ethel (Hovey) Pilcher.

Lois grew up in Libby and attended Libby Public Schools, graduating from Libby High School in 1940. She became an excellent cook and baker. She made excellent homemade noodles, sugar cookies, huckleberry pies and cherry pies. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, continuing to knit even after she was unable to see well due to macular degeneration.

During WWII, she moved to Spokane, Wash., to help in the war effort. She worked in the Trentwood Rolling Mill, helping to fabricate aluminum sheets which would become bodies of fighter planes.

Following the war, she returned to Libby. In October 1946, she married Donald Bill. She then turned her attention to becoming a mother and homemaker. Lois and Donald raised two children and remained married until his passing in 1969.

In 1976, Lois married Russell Scow. They enjoyed many happy years together until his passing in 1997. Lois was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila.  

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kimberly Bill, grandsons, Donald, Colin and Brian and granddaughters, Deri-Marie, Bobbie, Sammie and Toni. Also surviving her are stepchildren, Kathy, Thomas and Lavuer.

 Graveside Memorial Service were held at the City of Libby Cemetery on Saturday Sept. 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
