A Libby man was arrested on two misdemeanor charges early Monday morning and ordered held on $100,000 bond.

Daniel Edward Moen, 28, was charged with one misdemeanor count of partner/family member assault and one misdemeanor count of criminal destruction of or tampering with a communication device stemming from a Sept. 7 incident.

According to documents filed in Lincoln County Justice Court, sheriff’s deputies responded to the Kootenai River Road home of Moen and his partner, Holly Evans-Williams following a reported assault by Evans-Williams’ mother Sept. 8.

In the report attached to the affidavit of probable cause, Deputy Brad Dodson reported arriving at the home to find Evans-Williams lying on the couch, visibly injured.

“Holly was laying on the couch,” Dodson wrote in the report. “She had a large swollen bump on the right side of her head. She was complaining of headaches and I could see her left eye was slightly red and swollen as well.”

Dodson cited a previous history of violence between Evans-Williams and Moen.

“In May 2015, Holly was found in the ditch after she said Dan pushed her out of the vehicle,” Dodson wrote in his narrative. “In June, Dan reported being assaulted by Holly’s stepfather and his son. During the investigation the deputy learned Dan had assaulted Holly, which is why her stepfather and stepbrother retaliated. In July Holly’s mom reported that Holly had been assaulted by Dan and when deputies responded to speak with Holly she refused to speak to the officers and did not answer the door.”

Inside the house, Dodson noted the table had been knocked over and Evans-Williams reported Moen had taken her phone and tablet computer. The phone was located, smashed, in the trash can.

Dodson reported that he and Deputy Davis attempted to locate Moen after the incident, but were unable to do so. He was arrested early Monday morning, Sept. 14.
