Care and share to help Lincoln County

| September 8, 2015 8:46 AM

If you’re on Facebook, and probably other social media as well, you can help Lincoln County     prosper.

All you’ve got to do is once or twice a week go to a different local business’ social media site, scroll down through their page and share one of their posts that you think is of general interest – not necessarily an ad, but something that will catch people’s attention – and share it on your own timeline. That’s all there is to it, just go to different local business sites and regularly share cool stuff.

Earlier this summer something totally amazing started to happen on our Kootenai Aviation Facebook site. Page likes, photo likes and page/photo shares began to pour in at phenomenal rates. By the end of the week one of our photos of Libby had been shared about 180 times and over 14,000 people around the country received some positive information about Libby (not Kootenai Aviation but Libby, though our name was attached to the post). A little checking quickly revealed the culprit behind this blast of notoriety.

I noticed that all the people were friends with Tara Drake and Tara had just shared one of our posts on her timeline. That’s all she did, share one post. Tara works for the Venture Inn under her forward-thinking boss and new owner, Paul Bunn. Part of her job is to manage the Venture’s Facebook page. She regularly shares interesting posts from other businesses. Why?  It’s simple: Helping them helps Libby. When we help Libby we help ourselves and our own businesses in the process.

I doubt that all our shares will have the same results that Tara’s share did for Kootenai Aviation’s page, but some will do even better and if we all contribute, there will be a whole lot of positive, interesting and fun information going out all over the world about the communities we love and support. I guarantee it will have a positive impact on how we are viewed by the outside world as well as on our economy.

Thank you for caring and sharing.
