Library schedules plethora of events for November
The Lincoln County Public Libraries have activities scheduled for patrons of all ages during the month of November. All library events are free.
Each library branch offers weekly story times for preschool-age children. In Libby, story time is every Tuesday at 10 a.m. Story time for the Troy branch is Friday at 11:15 a.m. In Eureka, it is held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The Troy branch also hosts weekly chess games from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. each Saturday.
Nov. 3, 10 a.m.: Libby’s preschool story time will feature Goodnight Songs: A Celebration of the Seasons. The program includes a reading and craft activity to celebrate the true meaning of the holiday season.
Nov. 5, 4 p.m.: Libby branch’s after school program for children ages five through 12. “Surviving winter,” program includes migration, hibernation and other ways critters weather out the winter.
Nov. 6, 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.: Libby Friends of the Library book sale. Books, movies and music will be available for sale by the Libby Friends of the Library to raise funds to support the library. Enter on Main Street across from the post office.
Nov. 7, 1 p.m.: Open writing session as part of National Novel Writing Month. Join fellow writers as they strive to complete a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. The session will focus on sense of place, with worksheets, prompts, pens, paper and laptop computers available for use.
Nov. 10: Libby library closed for in-service training. Troy and Eureka branches open normal hours.
Nov. 11: All libraries closed for Veterans Day.
Nov. 12, 4 p.m.: The after school program moves to the library at Libby Elementary School for “All About Birds,” a program about birds and their behavior.
Nov. 14, 2 p.m.: University of Montana professsor Caroline Patterson will present a writing workshop to help kickstart your novel.
Nov. 17, 10 a.m.: Preschool story time with a program about hungry bears. Children will learn about how and why bears put on fat before they hibernate for the cold winter months.
Nov. 19, 4 p.m.: After school program, “Know Your Trees,” at the Libby branch. Learn to use field guilds to explore the world of trees and shrubs indigenous to the inland northwest.
Nov. 21, 11 a.m.: Monthly book discussion of this month’s book, “A Bartender’s Tale,” by Ivan Doig. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library.
Nov. 24, 10 a.m.: Preschool story time with “The First Thanksgiving; Over the River and Through the Wood; Thanksgiving Fun.” Students will read about the first Thanksgiving with poems and stories about the holiday season and do a pilgrim-themed craft.
Nov. 26: All libraries closed in observance of Thanksgiving.
Nov. 27: Amnesty Day.
