Letter to the Editor:

Decision time is here for the Nov. 3 election. Of crucial importance is the choosing of Libby City Council candidates, as the future of Libby is at stake.

Are we going to continue with disharmony or are we going to select people who will start to bring sensibility and healing?

As you consider each candidate ask yourself why he or she wants to run. Does that candidate demonstrate an eagerness and real desire to serve? Does the candidate have any background or knowledge of city matters, law or procedure? Can he or she make tough decisions regardless of social or private connections?

Of the slate of people who have declared an intent to serve at least one person stands out – Arlen Magill. He has demonstrated a desire to serve on council for the past several years by attending numeous committee and council meetings in an effort to be knowledgeable of past and present proceedings. He is very analytical and patient as shown in his pursuit of exposing wrongdoings of a past council and the mayor.

He has taken much criticism and been rebuffed by some for having the courage to stand up for what was right for the Libby taxpayers. He can take the heat and only makes a decision after much soul-searching and research.

Despite mean-spirited allegations, he is his own man with no connection to any persons or groups. We need people on the council with the integrity, desire and knowledge as is found in Arlen Magill.
