The Troy City Council approved all motions set before it on Wednesday, allowing three new businesses to open and several new improvements to be made to the city’s infrastructure.

The council approved licenses for three new businesses in the area. The new businesses are MNM Enterprise LLC; Montana Edge LLC and Three Rivers Pest Control.

MNM Enterprise LLC is a property management and caretaking firm owned by Marianne Simeone and located at 1930 Chase Cut Off Road in Troy. Montana Edge LLC is a knife and tool sharpening and repair business run out of a mobile unit and owned by Brent and Catherine Faulkner. Three Rivers Pest Control is a new local pest control company owned by James Lewis and operated out of Troy.

Troy Mayor Darren Coldwell commented that Lewis’ new business will provide a more easily accessible pest control business, and that residents of Troy will no longer have to call businesses in Kalispell for their pest control requirements.

In addition to the new businesses, the council approved a new city ordinance which will turn the two-way stop at the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Third Street into a four-way stop. According to Coldwell, it is the only two-way stop in town. Coldwell expressed confusion as to how the intersection was not made a four-way stop.

They also approved purchase of the lot on 322 Yaak Avenue, the foundation for the old “pink apartments.” The city government is making plans to renovate the space and make it habitable. The cost for the lot’s purchase is $6,666.60.

The council also approved Resolution 2015-713 to annex the Warrick property at 113 W. Spokane Avenue into the city.

The council also approved a measure to borrow money for three new patrol cars, being purchased as part of a matching funds grant. City Council member Kimberly Rowse said that the city managed to acquire the three new cars at less than the price of one.
