Middle school girls start basketball season
Six, seventh and eighth grade girls played a basketball jamboree at Libby Middle High School’s gymnasium on Saturday.
The girls had the chance to play some practice games, with teams from Libby, Troy and Noxon on hand to enjoy the non-competitive tournament.
Libby’s seventh graders beat Troy’s seventh graders 32-12.
Vice Principal Jim Germany thought of this event as something of a warm-up for the upcoming basketball tournament this Friday and Saturday in Noxon.
The tournament will feature girls’ basketball teams from the same grade, and will have teams from Lincoln and Sanders counties participating.
The tournament will be single elimination, meaning should a team lose even one game, they have no chance at winning the tournament.
Germany said this could mean participation from schools in Troy, Eureka, Libby, Noxon, Thompson Falls and possibly Trout Creek.
Germany said this ss an opportunity for the Middle School girls in both counties to pick up more experience and have fun.
“It’s a good chance for the girls to finish the year with a competitive tournament,” said Germany.
