Crismore joins The Western News staff
Clancy Crismore has joined The Western News staff as a reporter.
Crismore is a graduate of the Libby High School Class of 2010 and of the University of Montana Class of 2014. He graduated from the School of Journalism with a specialty in print.
Crismore was born in 1991, the son of Joseph and Tamara Crismore in Port Arthur, Texas. After a year there, the family moved back to Montana, his parents’ home state.
Crismore grew up in Libby.
Crismore first discovered his writing dream by accident. He was on the computer one day and found the website fanfiction.net. He started an account and began writing stories based on some of his favorite works of fiction. As reviews started rolling in, he kept writing and began to build a readership.
“One of the most rewarding things ever is for someone to see something you made and tell you they want to see more of it,” said Crismore. “I think I experienced that for the first time ever on fanfiction.net. It always makes me smile when I open my email and get a message from fanfiction.net saying ‘so and so has subscribed to you,’ or ‘such and such has favorited your story.’”
Following graduation, Crismore enrolled at the University of Montana. In the summer before his senior year, he worked for the Missoulian newspaper as an intern, writing assigned stories in addition to a few independently written video game reviews for the entertainment section. His game review for the Namco Bandai game Tales of Xillia was featured on IGN.
Crismore graduated on time as part of the class of 2014. Afterwards, he lived with his younger brother Colton in Missoula for a year and a half.
Today, Crismore’s ambition is to be a published author. He is currently working on three books, one of which is almost finished. He also maintains a blog at silvermicrophone.blogspot.com while maintaining activity on his fanfiction.net account.
Crismore is an avid reader, a prolific writer and a lover of video games, music and movies. His favorite authors are J.K. Rowling, Louis Sachar, H.P. Lovecraft, Kazuki Takahashi, Stan Lee and J.R.R. Tolkien. His favorite directors are Joss Whedon, Quentin Tarantino, Guillermo Del Toro, Martin Scorsese, George Lucas and Christopher Nolan. His favorite actor is Robert Downey, Jr. His favorite video game developers are BioWare, Kojima Productions, Ubisoft, Square-Enix, Nintendo, Bandai Namco Studios, Insomniac and Naughty Dog. His taste in music revolves around the 1980s, but his favorite genre is rock n’ roll. His favorite artists are Bon Jovi, AC/DC and Donna Burke.
