The Libby Children’s Select Choir, the Libby Middle School Choir and the Libby Middle School Honors Choir performed the annual patriotic concert at the Libby Memorial Events Center Tuesday evening. It was a show of love for the United States, in keeping with this month’s theme of national pride.

The program director, Lorraine Braun, a music teacher at Libby High School, led the choirs as they performed numerous songs

Braun said that the program held a special place in her heart, and that as she sees the nation’s flag go up a pole, she cannot help but feel elated.

The Libby Children’s Select Choir performed “This is My Country,” “Everyone Needs a Hero,” “The Spirit of America” and “America the Beautiful.”

The Libby Middle School Honors Choir performed “Land of the Free” and “Stars and Stripes.”

The Libby Middle School Choir performed “Colonel Bogey’s Grand Old Flag,” “Listen to My Song,” “There’s a Light,” “Thank You, Soldiers” and “Watoto Wa Dunia.”

The three choirs joined together for a combined performance of “We Can Build a Bridge.”

Justin Lauer of Kootenai Valley Radio managed the sound and helped Jenny Watson with the slideshows shown during the night. Gary Huntsberger and the Kootenai Heritage Council helped set up the center for the performance.

The concert was followed by a public reception.
