Renowned ragtime pianist Scott Kirby will be featured in the Memorial Center’s second series event of the season.

Kirby, originally from Ohio, now lives in Boulder, Colo., when he’s not touring the United States and Europe with his unique and inventive rhythms. He started studying music at the age of six and continued his formal music education until he graduated college with a degree in English.

He started his career as a New Orleans street performer, working his way up to performing in all of the major American ragtime music festivals, as well as traveling to events in Europe. He has worked with the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival, Rocky Mountain Ragtime and American Music Festival and the San Juan Islands Ragtime Institue and has made appearances on countless stages around the world.

The performance will begin Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Events Center. Tickets are $15 at the door, $12 if purchased in advance. Tickets are available at Cabinet Books, the Libby Area Chamber of Commerce, Homesteaders, The Western News, Mountain Meadows, Rocky Mountain Music, River Mist, Hot Club and Booze ‘n Bait.

The performance, like all season series performances, is made possible in part by grants from Westaf, Montana’s Cultural Trust, Montana Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts and the Montana Performing Arts Consortium.
