Plans are moving ahead for Libby’s seventh annual Riverfront Blues Festival, and interested community members are being invited to join in.

“We’d like to extend an invitation to anyone who’s interested in volunteering to help with this year’s festival, in any capacity,” said event coordinator Carol Oedewaldt. “We can always find something for someone to do. Anyone who has enjoyed the festival in the past and who would like to be a part of it this year is more than welcome.”

The next planning meeting for the festival will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, in the conference room at the Libby School District administration building at 724 Louisiana Ave., and anyone with an interest in the festival is welcome to attend.

This year’s festival is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7-8, at Riverfront Park. Music will start at 6 p.m. on Friday with Three-Eared Dog from Missoula, followed by the Stacy Jones Band from Seattle and the Colorado-based Lionel Young Band.

Texan Randy McAllister will take the stage at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday to start a full day of music. Next up will be the Suze Sims band from Seattle, followed by Kalispell’s Kevin Van Dort, James Armstrong from Springfield, Ill., and the Dennis Jones Band from Los Angeles.

A variety of food and other vendors will be on hand for the festival. For more information on the Riverfront Blues Festival, see www.riverfrontbluesfestival.com. Anyone who would like to volunteer but who can’t come to Wednesday’s meeting may call Carol Oedewaldt at 293-1661.
