Kermet Thomas

Kermet Thomas, 87, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at Libby Care Center. He was born in Homer, Georgia, Dec. 6, 1927, to William and Sally Thomas. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1948, and then worked as a boiler technician for Southern California Edison Co. until his retirement.

He was an outdoorsman; he loved to fish and was a talented marksman. He was an avid reader, loved to sing and dance and was a true southern gentleman. Kermet was a lifetime member of the NRA, The American Legion and the VFW. He was strong in his faith as an elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He resided in Libby for over 20 years.

He is survived by his children, Patricia Garoutte, Penni Guarin (Dave), Ken Thomas (Dee) and Donna Brown (Bob); seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

His normal reply of “Not bad for an old man” and his sweet smile will be missed.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks for all the loving care he received from Libby Lodge of Love and the Libby Care Center.

Services will be held at 2 pm Friday, March 6 2015, at Libby Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2056 Highway 2 South, followed by a graveside service at Libby Cemetery.   Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.
