Terry's Take Out opens in Libby
Terry Lane is doing what she loves and couldn’t be happier. She recently opened Terry’s Take Out located on the corner of Highway 2 and Main Street in Libby. “It’s been my dream for a lot of years. My husband is working in North Dakota and I just decided to finally do it,” Lane, the owner of Terry’s Take Out said.
Terry’s Take Out opened up five weeks ago and is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lane serves lunch specials from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner specials from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. “I post what I’ll be serving on the board outside near the street” Lane said. “It’s home cooking the way it use to be.”
Lane preached the importance of calling ahead to place an order. “I’ve had people drive up who didn’t call in and I had to turn them away because I ran out of food,” Lane said. “I only cook so much, I’m working by myself.” To reserve a meal ahead of time call 406-334-3064.
For dinner specials, Lane serves two different entrees. On Wednesday she serves country fried chicken that comes with a choice of potato salad or cole slaw, bread and a dessert. If one doesn’t like fried chicken try her chef salad that comes with garlic toast and a dessert.
Lane believes the first five weeks have gone great. “It’s been an awesome start. The community has been wonderful and supportive,” Lane said.
Lane works by herself and works long days. “I get to the grocery store at 7:30 a.m. and I leave from here around 8 p.m.” Lane said. “When I tell people that they are surprised how long of days I’m working. I’ve had people come up to me and ask if I slept last night. But, I’m doing what I love and each day goes by fast.”
If things continue to go well Lane hopes to expand. “I hope someday to expand and make it a place where people can walk-in and get their food instead of just a drive thru,” Lane said. “But, I’m working by myself and it would be difficult to manage both by myself.”
For Lane owning her own place where she can do what she loves has been a dream come true. “I started cooking when I was 12 and I have loved it ever since. It’s been a big passion of mine and I’m happy to be doing what I love,” Lane said. “I love hearing people “oh that was so good, thank you.”
