| June 12, 2015 8:13 AM

Evelyn Marie Fletcher Edwards passed away peacefully at her eldest daughter’s home in Covallis, Ore., on April 24, 2015 at the age of 84.

Evelyn was born May 26, 1930 in Malta, the daughter of Clarence and Hannah Fletcher. She attended high school in Libby until she was married, July 28, 1946, to Martin Julius Edwards, who had just returned from World War II.

Making their home on Bobtail Cutoff, Martin and Evelyn raised a family of four children in Libby, with Martin working as a sawyer and Evelyn as a postal clerk. She had made her home in Oregon, with her daughter, for the past 17 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Martin in 1982; her father Clarence in 1972 and mother Hannah in 1984. Evelyn is survived by her sister, Elaine Fletcher Fitzpatrick; her daughters Connie and Mona and her sons Wayne (Julie) and Lance (Ruth). She is survived by eight grandchildren, Danny, Jesse, Laurie, Hollie, Jaimie, Gini, Kristi and Allison; 14 great-grandchildren, Nicole, Chelsea, Halee, James, Ashley, Hope, Daniel, Brooke, Chelsea, Logan, Jocelynn, Kaitlin, Lillian and Edwin and two great-great-grandchildren, Cadence and Jaida.

Evelyn was cremated at Crown Memorial in Salem, Ore., and a celebration of her life will be held in mid-June when the family is able to gather in Corvallis, Ore. A ceremony will be held shortly thereafter in Libby, as she is laid to rest by Martin. The family will notify relatives and friends when the dates are certain.
