The Western News remains committed to our communities

| July 24, 2015 8:25 AM

Change is the one true constant in the universe, and no person, group or organization is ever really immune from the inevitability of it.

As readers may have noticed, The Western News is undergoing some changes at this point in time. We have recently undergone a management change and with it, a change in our internal structure.

One thing, however, hasn’t changed and never will: Our commitment to the communities of Libby and Troy. We consider it an honor and privilege to be able to provide you, our readers, with good coverage of the news that matters to you. We take that responsibility seriously, we always have and we always will. We view our relationship with the community as a partnership and we depend upon the people of this community for our success.

One part of our commitment to the community is the update and continuation of our opinion page. It provides a forum for area residents to express their thoughts about relevant events in the community and begin conversations about our past, our present and our future. Those conversations are a vital part of our community’s future growth and prosperity. We prioritize letters from our local community and look forward to publishing your thoughts on the important topics of the day.

We’ve also made some changes to the layout and look of the paper, especially the A and B section front pages. We hope you, our readers, find it easier to read and more appealing to your eyes.

The Western News will also be adding new features. Every edition will include a Today in History section and we are expanding our community briefs to include more items in each paper. We have also added a Business Movers and Shakers piece that we hope to run at least once per week. We encourage anyone with business or community news items to send them to us. We will work diligently to ensure all appropriate news items are published in a timely manner. Items can be faxed to 293-7187, emailed to bhenline@thewesternnews.com or dropped off in our office at 311 California Ave. in Libby.

As always, we welcome your thoughts, comments and suggestions as to how we can better serve our community. Any comments can be made to our general manager, Suzanne Resch, or our editor, Bob Henline.

Again, we want to express our appreciation to the communities who have made us their partner since 1902 and to reaffirm our commitment to continuing that partnership for another hundred years and beyond.

– Bob Henline is editor of The Western News
