A Libby woman’s failure to pay a traffic fine could result in much more serious legal trouble. Candace Hendrickson, 22, was charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs after Sheriff’s deputies reported finding methamphetamine in her possession while she was being processed into custody at the Lincoln County jail.

Hendrickson’s troubles date back to December 2014, when she was given a suspended sentence on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance. One of the terms of the suspended sentence required the payment of fines, which, according to documents filed in Lincoln County Justice Court, were not paid.

Justice of the Peace Jay Sheffield issued an arrest warrant for Hendrickson July 9, based upon a revocation request from the Lincoln County Attorney’s Office.

During Hendrickson’s dress-in at the jail, Officer Jonathan Graham of the Libby Police Department reported finding a plastic baggie containing a clear crystal. The substance was tested and confirmed to be methamphetamine.

Hendrickson was released from jail on $5,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear before Sheffield Aug. 18.
