| July 7, 2015 8:34 AM

Maria Moore, 85, resident of Libby, passed away June 24, 2015, at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center.

Maria was born March 27, 1930, in Manhattan, N.Y., to Mario and Carolina Marenzana. She grew up in Woodbridge, N.J. She got her first job as a switchboard operator in New Jersey.

In 1952, she moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she married and had two children. In 1957, the family moved to San Diego, Calif., where she remained until she was 80 years old. While in San Diego, she worked as a housekeeper for Paradise Valley Hospital until a reduction in staff occurred, then she went to work for Sharp’s Hospital in Chula Vista, Calif. where she stayed until she was 65 years old.

She then got bored and started volunteering at the hospital. She was there so much they decided to put her back to work as a courier for the pharmacy, where she remained on the payroll until she was 79 years old.

At age 80, she moved to Libby to be with her family. While in Libby, she began volunteering at the public library, where she quickly made new friends and they embraced her as family.

Maria always had an open ear, open mind and open heart. She loved working, reading and knitting.

Maria is survived by her son Bob Moore of Libby; daughter Roberta Amoroso of Spartanburg, S.C.; siblings Rose Van der Jagt of Simsberry, Conn., Olga Marenzana of Whiting, N.J., and Mario Marenzana of Garfield, N.J.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Schackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home of Libby provided Maria’s wishes for cremation. A private service for family and friends was conducted by Pastor Kevin at Assembly of God.

“Your memory lives on.”
