Allen Bernhard

Allen F.  Bernhard, 82, of Libby, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

He was born on July 10, 1932, at Eureka, to Xennie and Agnes (Mathis) Bernhard.  He grew up and attended school in Eureka, and graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1951.  

Allen started working for the railroad Osler Lumber Mill. He moved to Libby in 1963. He went to work for J. Neils Lumber Company and worked there until he retired from Stimson in the 1990s.  

He married Linda Simpson in 1979. They had one son, Charles.

Allen enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, water skiing and riding motorcycles.

He was an active member of the Church of God in Libby, TOPS and a member of the bowling league and the Spinning Squares Square Dance Club. He had a passion for ministry to people who were in the care center and in meeting the needs of others.

He was preceded in death by brothers Maurice, Cecil and Roger and a sister, Helen.

Survivors include his son Charles Bernhard (Hannah), Spirit Lake, Idaho;  grandchildren Kyura, Jonlun and Matthias and a sister Beverly O’Brien (Louie), Libby.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 8, 2015, from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.  Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the Church of God in Libby with burial at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
