Daniel Leo Swartzendruber

Daniel Leo Swartzendruber was born Oct. 5, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa.  He died at his cabin near Hotchkiss, Colo., of an apparent heart attack on Jan. 6, 2015.  He was 60 years old.

Dan grew up in Glenwood Springs, Colo. He was the youngest of four sons born to Leo and Shirley Swartzendruber.  He and his brothers loved to romp and play in the woods around their Glenwood home.  He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1973.  Dan spent his adult years in Libby, where he worked as a logger.  He married Connie Snyder in 1986. They divorced in 2005. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching his children play basketball and baseball.  He moved back to Colorado in 2006 and worked as a logger and at the Oxbow Mine until October of 2013.  His most enjoyable days were spent out of doors.  He loved spending time with his friends and helping others.

Dan is survived by his two sons, Jacob Daniel of Goodland, Kans., and Caleb Dean and wife Natasha of Libby; and two step-children, Adrian and April Yavah; his parents, Leo and Shirley Swartzendruber of Grand Junction, Colo.; brother Jim and wife Adrian of Silt, Colo.; brother Steve and wife Cindy of Paonia, Colo.; brother Jon and wife Sherell of Loveland, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews and loving friends. The memorial services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015. Memorial contributions may be mailed in care of Leo Swartzendruber, 601 Horizon Place # 229.  Grand Junction, CO  81506.
